Ladybird Room

2 years – 3 years

Ratio 1:4

Within our spacious toddler room, we have an open messy area that the children have access to painting and mark making, sand and water, playdough and tactile activities.

The layout provides a cosy resting area where children can relax, read stories and socialise with their peers. Our continuous provision areas within the room are designed to meet the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and are age and stage appropriate.

Adjacent to the toddler room is a cloakroom area where toddlers are encouraged to dress independently by putting on their own coats and shoes ready for outdoor play. There are nappy changing facilities within the room and potties available to help children who are starting their potty-training adventure. Toddlers also benefit from the generous sized garden with space to run, play and have fun whilst still extending their learning in the outdoors.

Typical daily routine

Praise and reward

At our nursery we focus on positive reinforcements and praise every bit of good behaviour, no matter how small.

Toddlers are naturally inquisitive and everything in the world is new to them. Fun and exciting activities are planned on a daily basis based on the children’s current interests to stimulate their curious minds.

Children have a desire to try and do things for themselves and often are very successful; with plenty of praise, toddlers will develop a strong self-esteem.
